Melania Trump, at 55, appeared eager to leave a rainy Washington on Tuesday morning. She accompanied her husband, President Donald Trump, who is 79, at the ceremonial turkey pardoning event—a long-standing White House tradition. Hand-in-hand with the President, Melania showcased a chic ensemble featuring an oversized black bomber jacket with arm pocket detailing, complemented by a brown houndstooth tweed skirt and a turtleneck top.
The stylish jacket, attributed to designer Anine Bing, featured ruched sleeves and is available at department stores such as Bloomingdale’s for around $400. Melania completed her outfit with brown patent-leather heels and her signature wavy blowout. Meanwhile, President Trump opted for a classic look with a long black dress coat and a striking red tie.
During the event, President Trump granted pardons to turkeys named Waddle and Gobble, participating in the 78th annual National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation. Following the ceremony, the First Lady and President boarded Air Force One, heading to Palm Beach, Florida, where they plan to celebrate Thanksgiving.
This year, only one of the turkeys will receive the pardon, but both will be spared. According to CNN , the two turkeys were born last summer in North Carolina , and were transported to Washington. The two stayed at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in order to get adjusted to city life before their big pardon. After their big moment, the two turkeys will live the remainder of their life North Carolina State University’s Prestage Department of Poultry Science in Raleigh, according to the outlet.
She seemingly remained in the festive spirit yesterday, too, as she welcomed the annual White House Christmas Tree to the property. The tree came from Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan after it clinched top spot in the National Christmas Tree Association’s contest back in July. The tree delivered yesterday will now be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House. Melania’s appearance at the turkey pardoning comes just a few days after she made a joint visit with Second Lady Usha Vance at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Their appearance marked the first time that they have traveled together for a joint visit without their husbands. They participated various engagements with families while also visiting Lejeune High School. However, the visit caused a bit of a stir as Usha was not seen wearing her wedding band on the trip. The image comes after weeks of social media users whispering about the state of the Vance marriage, which began in October with the Vice President’s tight hug he gave to Erika Kirk during a memorial for her husband, the right wing activist Charlie Kirk.
The speculation about a possible rift between the Second Couple was fueled by the VP admitting that he has pleaded with his wife to convert from Hinduism: he is a Roman Catholic. However, her spokesperson later told People that the Second Lady is ‘a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.’ Melania, on the other hand, was dressed down for the visit in a pair of brown leather pants and a matching safari jacket.
Usha opted for a burgundy-colored, turtleneck dress with matching suede heels. Melania’s jacket appeared to be designed by Blazé Milano, featuring various pockets of different sizes and tortoise-shell button detailing. The jacket is currently on sale for $950 on Net-a-Porter, but was originally priced at $1,900. She paired the look with a pair of chestnut-colored, heeled Christian Louboutin booties that included buckle detailing on the front. The First Lady tied everything together with a pair of brown aviator-style sunglasses and light-pink painted nails.
