A tragic case has emerged in Long Beach, California, where a father and stepmother have been taken into custody, facing charges of torture and murder following the death of a 14-month-old girl. The Long Beach Police Department announced the arrest on Wednesday.
The investigation began on November 7, when officers were called to a local hospital for a suspected child abuse case. Medical personnel had reported that the young girl was unresponsive and exhibited multiple signs of trauma.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives were informed that the child was on life support and not expected to recover. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away on November 10, reportedly due to the abuse inflicted by her father and stepmother.
The suspects have been identified as Alfredo Munoz, 40, and Kelly Munoz, 34, both residents of Long Beach. They are currently facing charges of murder, torture, and child abuse resulting in death.
As this heartbreaking case progresses, homicide detectives are in the process of preparing to present their findings to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office next week, where further legal actions will be considered.
