Exclusive: Sydney high school student Noah Jones, 15, first discovered the federal government’s upcoming social media ban through the very platforms it seeks to restrict.

Now, he is taking his fight against the legislation to the High Court.

“It’s hard to accept that the Australian government is excluding children from these platforms while ignoring the real issue—the predators who cause harm there,” Noah expressed.

The group is aiming to secure an injunction to postpone the law’s implementation until the case is addressed early next year.

“Social media’s influence is expanding rapidly, and whether we like it or not, it plays a significant role in our lives,” said Ruddick.

They are confident that the court will find the law unconstitutional and overturn this groundbreaking government legislation.

“Instead of making the social media platforms spend money and resources on avoiding fines, they should be spending money and resources on creating safer places on these platforms and taking action against these predators and inappropriate content,” Noah said.

Federal Communications Minister Anika Wells said she would not be intimidated by the legal challenge.

”Despite the fact that we are receiving threats and legal challenges by people with ulterior motives, the Albanese government remains steadfastly on the side of parents and not of platforms,” she said.
