9News has been honored for its exceptional journalism, with Andrew Probyn, the National Affairs Editor, securing a win in the television/video news reporting category at the prestigious Walkley Awards.
Probyn received this accolade for his investigative report on Russian gangsters and the Medibank data breach, celebrated during a ceremony held in Sydney last night.
Journalists from The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald dominated the awards, clinching victories in six categories that highlight journalistic excellence.
Among the recognized were The Age reporters who covered the trial of Erin Patterson, the Victorian woman convicted of murdering three people with poisonous mushrooms.
Investigative journalist Eryk Bagshaw, Good Food reporter Bianca Hrovat, and crime reporter Claire Sibthorpe were awarded the news reporting Walkley for their exposé on the darker aspects of the hospitality sector.
Melissa Fyfe, a senior writer for Good Weekend, earned the best feature writing award in the short category for her insightful piece on forced marriages in Australia.
