Detectives from South Australia’s major crime unit recently made a visit to Yatala Labour Prison to speak with Bevan Spencer Von Einem, a figure infamously known as one of the region’s most notorious child murderers.

While police have not officially confirmed the meeting, sources from 9News have indicated that officers engaged in a conversation with Von Einem for approximately an hour this morning, conducting the interview within a secure room at the high-security facility.

Two detectives specializing in major crimes were observed entering the prison and, about 90 minutes later, they exited carrying notebooks and a small video camera, suggesting the encounter was thoroughly documented.

The details of the discussion remain unclear, and it is uncertain whether Von Einem divulged any information. However, expectations are low that he provided insights into the notorious Family Murders, a series of crimes shrouded in mystery.

Von Einem has consistently denied any involvement in the broader spectrum of these crimes, and many believe he intends to take his secrets to the grave.

He is currently serving a life sentence, having been convicted in 1984 for the murder of 15-year-old Richard Kelvin, a case that has cemented his notoriety.

It's widely believed Von Einem, who has long denied involvement in multiple crimes, will die with his secrets.

That killing has long been linked to four others for which no one has ever faced justice.

All are thought to have been connected to a sinister group of men known as “The Family”.

Von Einem is now terminally ill with lung cancer, and it is unclear how long he has left to live, or if detectives intend to pay him another visit.
