Weather Impact Alert: Freeze warning in place for SE Georgia Saturday with near freezing in Jacksonville

A surge of frigid air ushers in the start of our Thanksgiving weekend, creating a wintry atmosphere reminiscent of January. It’s a good time to bundle up and ensure our pets and delicate plants are protected from the cold.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Anticipating freezing temperatures and biting wind chills, the First Coast News Weather Team has announced a Weather Impact Alert for early Saturday morning, particularly affecting Southeast Georgia.

While Saturday morning won’t be as bitter as Friday, the chill persists, prompting an inland Frost Warning for Southeast Georgia.

As the polar high pressure system advances with lighter winds on Saturday morning, expect widespread frost inland, notably west of Highway 17 and areas of Southeast Georgia west of I-95. Fortunately, the cold air mass will retreat by Saturday afternoon, bringing milder temperatures with highs approaching 70 degrees.

IMPACTS: Expect wind chills, inland freezes, and frosts, particularly in Southeast Georgia.

NEED: Don your winter coats, layer up, and safeguard your loved ones, pets, and plants from the cold.
