A couple tragically lost their lives in a shooting incident outside their home in California on Sunday, as reported by local authorities.
Identified as Eric and Vicki Cordes, the couple was discovered with gunshot injuries in the driveway of their Simi Valley home, according to a report from FOX 11 Los Angeles. The incident occurred around midday on Sunday.
Both victims sustained several gunshot wounds and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later declared deceased.
Eric Cordes was a radiologist with board certification, employed at Adventist Health Simi Valley.

The investigation by Simi Valley authorities is ongoing after the couple was found shot in their driveway, as reported by FOX 11 Los Angeles.
Eyewitnesses informed FOX 11 that the shooting unfolded rapidly, with the suspect fleeing the scene in a vehicle immediately after the attack.
Hours after the shooting, officials found a charred vehicle and a body in Chino, California, over 60 miles away from Simi Valley.
The body and car were found in Ruben S. Ayala Park. Officials believe that the person in the car committed suicide, and that there may be a connection between the two scenes.
Speaking to FOX 11, Sgt. Rick Morton of the Simi Valley Police Department said that it’s rare for double homicides to happen in the city.

Witnesses told FOX 11 that the suspect opened fire quickly before speeding away from the Cordes residence. (FOX 11 Los Angeles)
“We do believe the victims were targeted,” said Morton.
“We’ll have more information on that as the investigation proceeds further.”
In a statement obtained by FOX 11, Adventist Health Simi Valley said that it was “heartbroken by the tragic deaths” and called Eric Cordes a “highly respected” and “beloved” physician.
