Six foreign nationals detained after being found in remote WA town

Six men, believed to be foreign nationals, have been detained by authorities after being found wandering around a remote Outback community in Western Australia.
Police told 9news.com.au an off-duty police officer found two men about 12 kilometres north of the town of Kalumburu in the state’s north on Monday.

Authorities suspect the group arrived in the country by boat, but the exact location of both their landing and departure remains unclear.

Upon realizing they were part of a larger contingent, police initiated a search operation to locate the rest of the individuals.

The following day, four additional men were found in the vicinity of Kalumburu.

Locals told WAToday the men caught their attention due to their unusual dress – long pants in hot weather – and the fact that all roads were closed.

It appears the men journeyed on foot from the shoreline towards the nearby community.

“The men were conveyed to Kalumburu Multi-Functional Police Facility for medical assessment,” WA Police told 9news.com.au.

According to WAToday, the men were transported to the local airport and subsequently flown out of the region.

When approached for details, the Australian Border Force (ABF) declined to disclose the men’s current location or provide insights into their entry into Australia.

When contacted for comment, Australian Border Force (ABF) refused to elaborate on where the men had been taken or provide further information on how they arrived in Australia.

“The Australian Border Force does not comment on operational matters,” an ABF spokesperson said.
