Authorities responded to a distress call when a man was discovered with stab injuries at the junction of Maribyrnong and Union roads around 3:45 pm.
The 40-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries but unfortunately succumbed to them.
Shortly afterward, an 18-year-old suspect was apprehended on Ascot Street.
This individual, who is reportedly without a permanent residence, faces charges including intentional injury, affray, escaping custody, and theft.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
Meanwhile, the police are actively searching for another man who is thought to have fled the scene after the alleged stabbing.
A large crime scene has been established.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
