Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have apprehended 36-year-old Chloe English Dunnell on Friday, charging her with two felony counts related to allegedly fabricating insurance claims, leading to the insurance company incurring losses exceeding $10,000.

According to allegations, between April 2023 and July 2024, Dunnell filed numerous claims for accidental injuries, asserting that she and her children required emergency room treatment on 27 separate occasions during this period.

The claims reportedly involved falsified medical documentation for a variety of incidents, including seven accidental injuries or falls, seven animal bites, three instances of bee or wasp stings, two episodes of fingers caught in doors, two injuries involving moving furniture, and five car accident-related injuries.

An investigation revealed discrepancies after an investigator reached out to the emergency rooms associated with these claims. The healthcare facilities confirmed they had no records of treatments on the specified dates.

Furthermore, Dunnell is accused of submitting a police report linked to one of the car accidents; however, the report number corresponded to an entirely different incident with unrelated parties.

In a recorded interview, Dunnell reportedly admitted to submitting the claims and receiving compensation for the treatments. She reportedly did not dispute that specific claims were fake, but “she did not recall making that many claims.” She said she stopped submitting the claims after July 2024 because her employer switched insurance companies. She reportedly said she found people online to alter the documents she submitted, but she said she did not know those people. She reportedly said, “I did it and I was wrong… It always catches up with you.”

Dunnell reportedly received $10,835 from her insurance company for the fraudulent claims.

Dunnell has been charged with insurance fraud under $20,000 and engaging in a scheme to defraud. Bail was set at $1,000 by Judge David Kreider when he issued her warrant.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
