A drunk driver who was more than five times the legal limit has come dangerously close to disaster in one of Adelaide's most affluent coastal suburbs.

A potentially catastrophic incident unfolded in one of Adelaide’s upscale coastal neighborhoods when a driver, allegedly intoxicated at more than five times the legal alcohol limit, narrowly avoided tragedy.

The incident involved a 40-year-old woman from Glengowrie, who reportedly collided with two parked vehicles on Gilbert Road in Somerton Park. The collision caused her car to flip onto its side around 10 p.m. last night.

Local residents quickly sprang into action, rushing to the scene to assist the driver trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

“We were worried the car might flip over again while she was still inside,” said Dmitri Ivanov, a nearby resident who was among the first to respond.

“We tried to stabilize the car, making sure it didn’t tip over further,” Ivanov explained.

“In the process, we had to break the roof window to help her out,” he added.

Jasmin Bullus, one of the owners of the damaged vehicles, recounted the immediate aftermath of the rescue.

“We got her to the side and I told her to sit down, Chloe got her some blankets and water and stuff,” Bullus said.

The driver underwent a breath test, allegedly registering a reading of 0.262.

While no injuries were reported, both parked vehicles sustained significant damage and are likely to be written off.

One of the owners had been sitting in his vehicle only minutes before the collision occurred.

The driver is expected to face charges related to high-range drink driving.

Sam Neill has left behind a multimillion-dollar fortune and a portfolio of properties following his death at the age of 78 this week. The Jurassic Park star, who passed away suddenly on Monday in Sydney, boasted a winery empire, as well as a net worth estimated to be between $25 million and $28 million. The New Zealand actor's main residence was a sprawling New Zealand winery called Two Paddocks, located in the Central Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. He opened Two Paddocks in 1993 and the winery quickly became renowned for its Pinot Noir - a lightly spiced red wine. While known for its Pinot, the label also has a reputation for producing high-quality Riesling. The business started life as a simple five-acre planting, but expanded to encompass four vineyard sites.
