Road rage shooting leaves man dead in Jacksonville's Sandalwood area, JSO says

In a tragic turn of events in Jacksonville’s Sandalwood area, a man lost his life following a road rage altercation on Wednesday night. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has reported that the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 1700 block of St. Johns Bluff Road South.

Upon receiving the call, officers quickly arrived at the scene where they discovered a man lying on the road, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a development that has added a complex layer to the unfolding situation, JSO Sgt. Josh Catir confirmed that the shooter has since turned himself in. This revelation offers a potential pathway for understanding the circumstances that led to such a fatal outcome in what began as a road rage confrontation.

When officers arrived to the scene, JSO said a man was found lying in the road with at least one gunshot wound.

Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead, JSO said.

According to JSO Sgt. Josh Catir, the shooter turned himself in.
