Authorities have apprehended two individuals following the discovery of a pregnant woman’s body in Georgia, wrapped in blankets.

The Rome Police Department was alerted to the situation on December 9 at the John Graham Homes, located near Hull Avenue and Cedar Avenue in Rome. Upon reaching the scene, officers found the woman’s lifeless body concealed within blankets.

Eyewitnesses provided a description of a red vehicle that was seen leaving the area hurriedly. The vehicle was subsequently intercepted by officers in Bartow County, leading to the arrest of Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, 23, along with Rolanda Monique Edwards, 25, whom he had recently connected with online.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Kaylee B. Shackelford from Powell, Tennessee. Taylor had been romantically involved with Shackelford; during this time, he began a new relationship with Edwards.

The suspects faced a judge on December 10, who revealed that Taylor allegedly stabbed Shackelford multiple times.

Taylor is also accused of fatally striking her in the head with a baseball bat, as reported by 11 Alive.

Police announced Friday that Shackelford was determined to be pregnant at the time of her death.

Both Taylor and Edwards are being held without bond at the Floyd County Jail.

Police listed Taylor’s charges as feticide, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, theft by receiving stolen property, and failure to obey traffic-control devices.

In addition, Taylor is also facing felony warrants for concealing the death of another, aggravated assault, two counts of felony murder, and aggravated battery. Taylor is also being held for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

Edward’s list of charges include party to a crime, with warrants for concealing the death of another and hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal.

Rome Police Department stated that “this remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming as evidence continues to be reviewed.”

They welcome any information that may help with this case.

Check back for updates.
