In a significant development, federal authorities have reportedly thwarted a credible terrorist threat, apprehending four individuals alleged to be members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group. These arrests are connected to a supposed plot to carry out coordinated bombings in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.
The FBI has informed Fox News Digital that the suspects identified themselves as part of a splinter faction of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF). This extremist group is known for its pro-Palestinian stance, as well as its strong anti-law-enforcement and anti-government sentiments.
Authorities allege that the group was planning to utilize improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to execute bombings at five different locations across Los Angeles. Such coordinated attacks were intended to unfold during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, posing a significant threat to public safety.
The FBI detailed that the arrests took place in Lucerne Valley, where the suspects were allegedly preparing to test explosives prior to the planned attacks. Each of the four individuals now faces charges of conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.
Additionally, the agency revealed that a fifth suspect, believed to be linked to the same extremist group, was detained in New Orleans. This individual is accused of planning a separate attack, underscoring the broader threat posed by this organization.
The TILF uses social media to propagate its ideology, with an Instagram account claiming that its founding chapter is based in Los Angeles. The group’s mission, as stated, is to liberate “Turtle Island,” a term used by some Indigenous groups to denote North America, from what they describe as the “illegal American empire.”
“Free Palestine. Free Hawaii. Free Puerto Rico,” the account posted.
“Freeing the world from American imperialism is the only way to a safe and peaceful future,” it continued.
