Rob Reiner’s younger son, Nick Reiner, was in custody after being arrested for what investigators believe was the fatal stabbing of the director-actor and his wife at their Los Angeles home yesterday.

Nick Reiner, aged 32, remains in custody, though the specific charges against him have yet to be disclosed. As of Monday, online records confirm his detention, and Police Chief Jim McDonnell has stated that Reiner is being held with bail set at $4 million (approximately AU$6 million).

Attempts to reach Reiner’s family for a statement were unsuccessful, and it is unclear if he has legal representation to speak on his behalf at this time.

A recent post expressed that “Rob Reiner, once a talented director and comedy star, has sadly passed away alongside his wife, Michele. The post suggests his death was metaphorically linked to his intense disdain for President Donald J. Trump, described as an unyielding obsession and paranoia that allegedly worsened as the Trump administration achieved its objectives.”

The post further elaborated on how Reiner’s fixation reportedly affected those around him, as the Trump era was portrayed as a period of American prosperity.

Reiner had long been a critic of the current president; in an interview with Variety magazine in 2017, he claimed Trump was ‘mentally unfit’ to hold office.
