Today, a new video has surfaced showing two bystanders in Bondi engaging in a struggle with one of the alleged gunmen just before an attack at the Hanukkah by the Sea event, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people and injuries to many others.

The bystanders, whose identities have not yet been disclosed, were fatally shot during the altercation on Sunday evening. They were attempting to subdue the shooter, identified as 50-year-old Sajid Akram.

Footage from a dashcam, later shared on Chinese social media, captures the moment when a man and a woman confront the attacker on Campbell Parade in Bondi, right before the mass shooting occurred.

In the video, a man wearing a purple shirt is seen wrestling the alleged shooter to the ground and managing to disarm him.

He then uses the gun as a makeshift weapon, swinging it like a bat to try to halt the attack.

Later footage, which 9news.com.au has chosen not to publish, shows the man in the purple shirt fatally shot in the confrontation.

A flag believed to represent terrorist group Islamic State can be seen draped across the windscreen of the shooter’s car.

It is believed the pair were among the first victims of the attack.

To date, 15 people have died in the attack, not including the senior Akram, who was shot by police at the scene.

His son, 24-year-old Naveed Akram, remains in a critical condition in hospital under police guard.
