An out-of-control bus operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) collided with multiple vehicles in the Bronx on Monday, resulting in injuries to eight individuals.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. in the vicinity of Cauldwell Avenue and Trinity Avenue, as reported by the New York City Fire Department.

In total, the bus impacted six vehicles as it traveled over a span of approximately six blocks.

A pair of vehicles were hit near a school at the intersection of East 163rd Street and Cauldwell Avenue. One of these vehicles was pushed into a light pole, while the other sustained damage to its side.

Further along the route, an SUV was forced onto the sidewalk, and the rear of a blue coupe was severely damaged.

Down the road, an SUV was shoved onto the sidewalk and the back of a blue coupe was destroyed.

Screaming from panicking passengers was heard in video taken from inside the bus.

The driver was going up a hill when they pushed the gas to accelerate, at which point the bus had a mechanical failure, police sources told WABC, adding that the driver may have hit the emergency break and slid out of control.
