Surviving accused Bondi Beach gunman Naveed Akram has been charged with 59 offences after 15 people were killed on Sunday.

Akram, a 24-year-old, sustained injuries during the assault and remained in a coma while recovering in the hospital until he regained consciousness yesterday.

The suspected shooter is set to face a multitude of charges, which include 15 counts of murder and a single charge of committing a terrorist act.

Furthermore, he will be charged with numerous counts of wounding with the intent to murder, the public exhibition of a prohibited terrorist symbol, and one charge related to placing an explosive device in or near a building.

This afternoon, a court session will be conducted at his hospital bedside.

Tragically, Akram’s father, 50-year-old Sajid Akram, was killed during the attack when he was shot by police during the nine-minute ordeal.

In the last 48 hours, authorities have identified 12 of the 15 victims, whose ages range from 10 to 87 years old.

Naveed was awake and conscious last night after being injured when he was shot by police.

Just hours ago, police said they were waiting for him to recover before pressing charges.

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett earlier said early investigations indicate that no other individual is expected to face charges.

“There is no evidence to suggest other individuals were involved in this attack, however, we caution that this could change given it is early in our investigation,” Barrett said.
