Back in 2002, Daniel Bedingfield soared to fame with his hit song “If You’re Not The One.” Today, the singer candidly shares that this sentiment doesn’t quite hold true for him personally. In a recent conversation on The Shizzo Show, Bedingfield, now 46, opened up about his polyamorous lifestyle, admitting that one partner could never suffice for him. “I was born to love two or three people,” he confessed during the interview.

Reflecting on past relationships, Bedingfield explained, “I found the right person for me, everything I’d been searching for, but it wasn’t enough. I realized I need to love more than one person—two or three. My heart is just built differently.”

During the discussion, when host Shizzio asked if he could truly love just one person, Bedingfield’s response was clear: “No! I still hold love for everyone I’ve ever been involved with. My heart is filled with people I’ve loved.”

Bedingfield further elaborated on his unique perspective, likening it to familial love. “When a new love comes into my life, it’s like asking which sibling you prefer. Do you love your sister more than your mother? It’s not about choosing, it’s about embracing them all.”

‘No! I still love everyone I’ve ever been in love with. My heart is full of people I’ve been in love with.

‘And then a new one comes in and it’s like which sister do you prefer? No! Do you love your sister more than your mum? Stop it, stop it.

‘So I can’t… which girl do you love more? It’s completely someone else’s idea. It doesn’t fit [me] at all.’

In April 2024, Daniel opened up about his sexuality for the first time as he spoke about a ‘man he loved’ during a performance at the London Palladium.

The Gotta Get Thru This singer had been taking a self-imposed hiatus for the past two decades but had returned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his first hit song.

Addressing the crowds, he said: ‘In my era, you had to be gay or straight, or f*** you. I wrote this song with a man I loved about a girl we both loved.’

The song was called Borderline and afterwards, Daniel spoke about this woman and said how much he and this unknown man missed her when she went away.

He said: ‘I’m not very gay, but we were on a hot spring, sitting on a rock, missing her.’

Elsewhere, during the Shizzio interview, Daniel also called out his number one celebrity enemy – Leigh Francis’ character Avid Merrion.

He said: ‘That idiot Avid Merrion told everyone I was dead. If I have an enemy in my life, it’s him. And then hearing what Craig [David] suffered too.

‘That’s an enemy, that’ s a bad English person.  All my friends thought I was dead.’

Daniel accused the funnyman of taking great ‘delight’ in tricking the public he had passed away with a death gag back in 2015 said on Celebrity Juice, which was axed after 14 years in 2022.

Daniel became one of the most searched artists on Google in 2015, due to fans desperately trying to find out if Leigh’s claim was true.

Moreover, Craig David told in 2023 how he moved to America to escape the ‘reaction’ to his mocking by Leigh Francis, likening the abuse to childhood bullying.

Leigh no longer performs as Keith Lemon, or any other of his characters, following a backlash in recent years.

He made a public apology in 2020, expressing his regret at mimicking black stars.

Daniel also discussed his belief that he is autistic, despite saying he has taken three tests that have all come back saying he is not.

He said: ‘I process things in ways that remind me of autistic people. I took the test three times. It says no. I’m not.

‘I see other autistic people and I know that I am. There’s a little computer in my head, so when i first had the success, I was very confused by how to behave.

‘I tried to behave how I saw other pop stars behave. I think I kind of pulled it off.’

He then wrote in the comments: ‘Spectrum peoples faces are often moving when they “shouldn’t” be. And not moving when they “should.”

‘It’s slightly jerky and hammy. That’s can be comical and endearing, often it is scary for people’s face who move “normally”and can contribute to a sense of “weird” or hmmmm.’
