In a dramatic turn of events in Sydney’s west, authorities have charged a woman following an alleged carjacking incident.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident unfolded when the woman was seen attempting to exit the passenger side of a moving delivery van on the M4 motorway, near Reservoir Road in Blacktown, around 10:30 a.m. today.

The situation quickly escalated, prompting police intervention. With assistance from a police helicopter, officers tracked the vehicle across several suburbs, intensifying the search for the van.

During the pursuit, the van reportedly ignored orders to stop, leading to a police chase. However, conscious of public safety, the officers decided to call off the chase.

Law enforcement later located the van’s passenger on King Street in Parramatta. Fortunately, the 30-year-old woman involved in the incident was found uninjured.

She was charged with two counts of taking and driving conveyance without the consent of the owner, taking/detaining a person with the intent to obtain advantage to cause actual bodily harm, and police pursuit – not stop – driving dangerously.

Police allege the woman stole a second vehicle outside a hospital in Kingswood before stealing the van.

She was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
