A tragic incident unfolded on Monday when a Mexican Navy aircraft, tasked with a medical mission, crashed in the vicinity of the Galveston Causeway in Texas. This incident set off a collaborative response involving local law enforcement and Texas officials, as investigative teams worked to unravel the incident’s origins.

According to a statement on X by the Mexican Navy secretary, the aircraft was engaged in a medical mission in partnership with the Michou and Mau Foundation when it encountered trouble during its approach to Galveston, Texas.

The ill-fated aircraft has been identified as a King Air ANX 1209, as per a release from the Mexican Navy.

The aircraft was carrying eight individuals, comprising four naval personnel and four civilians, at the time of the crash near Galveston, reported the Mexican Navy.

In response to the crash, search and rescue operations were swiftly launched in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard. So far, six individuals have been rescued; four survivors have been accounted for, while two fatalities have been confirmed. The search continues for two others presumed to be trapped within the wreckage, according to the Mexican Navy.
