Nick Reiner, the son of iconic Hollywood figures Rob and Michele Reiner, was taken into custody on Monday following the tragic discovery of his parents’ lifeless bodies in their Los Angeles residence.

WASHINGTON — In a shocking turn of events, acclaimed filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, along with his wife Michele Singer Reiner, were discovered deceased in their Southern California home on Sunday night. Authorities have classified the incident as a suspected double homicide.

According to law enforcement officials, the couple appeared to have died from multiple stab wounds, a detail that has been corroborated by several media reports.

On Monday morning, it was revealed that their son, Nick Reiner, had been arrested in connection with the grisly murders. The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed Nick’s arrest on charges related to the deaths of his parents.

Here is a summary of the details currently available: Police responded to a call at the Reiner residence at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they found the couple dead inside the home. The identity of the individual who alerted emergency services has not been disclosed.

What happened to Rob and Michele Reiner?

Police say they were called to the Reiner home around 3:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon where they found two people dead inside. It’s unclear who called emergency responders. 

Multiple news outlets reported Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were stabbed to death.

A spokesperson for the Reiner family confirmed the deaths Sunday evening.

The LA Times reported there was no forced entry into the home. 

Has there been an arrest in connection with Rob Reiner’s death? 

The Associated Press reported shortly after the deaths that a family member was being questioned in connection with the homicide.

On Monday, police arrested Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Rob and Michele, on a felony charge, Los Angeles County jail booking records indicate. 

Investigators later said they determined Nick Reiner was responsible for his parents’ death and was arrested for their murder. 

At an unrelated press conference Monday morning, police confirmed that Nick Reiner had been booked on a murder charge. 


Who was Rob Reiner?

Reiner is long one of the most prolific directors in Hollywood, and his work includes some of the most memorable movies of the 1980s and ’90s, including “This is Spinal Tap,” “A Few Good Men,” “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride.”

His role as Meathead in the 1970s TV classic “All in the Family” alongside Carol O’Connor’s Archie Bunker catapulted him to fame.

In recent years, he had a role on “New Girl” playing Bob Day, the father of main character Jess Day, played by Zooey Deschanel.
