In a surprising turn of events, President Donald Trump appeared to momentarily doze off during an extensive Cabinet meeting today, sparking comparisons to the nickname “Sleepy Joe,” which he often used for his political rival.

The President, who is 79 years old, seemed to struggle to keep his eyes open after urging each Cabinet member to highlight their achievements from the first year of his presidency.

Despite the apparent lapse in alertness, Trump dismissed any concerns regarding his health, even as the meeting extended over two hours and 18 minutes.

This incident follows the recent release of detailed information from the White House on Monday regarding an MRI that was part of Trump’s annual physical examination.

Social media quickly lit up with reactions to the footage, with many users humorously dubbing the President as the “Commander in Sleep.”

Social media users were quick to react to footage from the Cabinet meeting, branding the President the ‘Commander in sleep.’

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was just as fast to push back on any suggestion that Trump was anything but energetic.

‘President Trump was listening attentively and running the entire three-hour marathon Cabinet meeting,’ she told the Daily Mail in a statement. 

Prior to seemingly resting his eyes, Trump had argued that media outlets should be focused on reporting his victories at the border.   

‘But you always find something new, like, “Is he in good health?”‘ the President said. ‘Biden was great,’ he added sarcastically.

‘I sit here and do four news conferences a day. I ask questions from very intelligent lunatics. You people. I give the right answers. There’s never a scandal. There’s never a problem. I give you answers and solve your little problems,’ Trump continued.

Cabinet members started laughing as the President went on. 

‘You go back, and you can’t find anything, but you do, you do stories about Biden was in wonderful health,’ Trump continued. ‘The guy couldn’t do a news conference for eight months.’ 

‘If I go one day, I had one day where I didn’t do a news conference. “There’s something wrong with the President,”‘ he added. 

It was the President’s sometimes incoherent Truth Social posts, including one that targeted Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz, that prompted Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee, to demand that the White House release Trump’s MRI results. 

When asked about Walz’s comments Sunday on board Air Force One, Trump greenlit the release of the MRI results, which Leavitt revealed on Monday. 

‘You people are crazy,’ Trump told the reporters gathered in the Cabinet Room. ‘I’ll let you know when there’s something wrong. There will be some day, that’s going to happen to all of us. But right now, I think I’m sharper than I was 25 years ago, but who the hell knows.’ 

He also boasted that he got ‘all As’ when he took his physical, which included a cognitive exam. 

Trump’s defiant comments were made at the top of the meeting, and his defiant eyelids came about an hour and a half in.

This prompted the left-leaning PatriotTakes account on X to label Trump the ‘Commander in sleep.’

Liberal journalist Aaron Rupar added, ‘Trump looks to be unconscious as Linda McMahon winds down her remarks.’

Education Secretary Linda McMahon was one of the final Cabinet members to speak. 

Pushing back against the assertion that Trump fell asleep, Leavitt called attention to the President’s ‘amazing final answer’ during his back-and-forth with reporters, when he ‘ripped into the America-Last Democrats for allowing radical Somali migrants to invade our country and steal from American taxpayers.’

Trump took questions after every Cabinet member spoke. 

That final answer included digs at Walz and fellow Minnesota Democrat, Representative Ilhan Omar, who was born in Somalia. 

‘She’s garbage, her friends are garbage. These aren’t people that work. These aren’t people that say, let’s go, come on, let’s make this place great,’ Trump said. ‘These are people that do nothing but complain.’

Trump said these immigrants ‘come from hell.’ 

‘And they complain and do nothing but bitch,’ the President said. ‘We don’t want them in our country. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.’ 

He then dismissed the press, as Cabinet members applauded. 

‘This epic moment put an exclamation point on President Trump’s ninth Cabinet meeting of his second term – all of which have been entirely open to the press for the whole world to see,’ Leavitt told the Daily Mail. 

‘In all of these historic meetings, the President and his incredible team highlight the exhaustive list of accomplishments they have delivered on behalf of the American people to Make America Great Again,’ the press secretary added.
