Actor George Clooney, his wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney, and their two children have officially become citizens of France.

The family, including their 8-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, received French citizenship through a naturalization process, as confirmed by an official decree.

After deciding to distance themselves from Hollywood’s bustling environment, the Clooneys relocated to France, opting for a more private life, the Academy Award-winning actor and director shared in October.

In a candid discussion with Esquire, the 64-year-old Clooney talked about settling in France and the motivations behind choosing a rural lifestyle for his family.

“We reside on a farm in France,” Clooney said. “Growing up, I spent a lot of time on a farm, and I hated it back then. But now, for my kids, it means they’re not glued to their iPads. They join adults for meals and help with chores. It’s a far better life for them.”

“I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life,” he continued. 

In addition to his family home in France, George reportedly owns an estate in England, a villa on Lake Como in Italy, and another property near his family in Kentucky, People reported.

During his Esquire interview, Clooney talked about living in France, away from the glamor of Hollywood. 

“France – they kind of don’t give a s— about fame,” he said. “I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”
