Woman arrested for deadly stabbing of man at Grand Park home

In Jacksonville, Florida, a woman has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a man the day after Christmas. The incident has left the local community in shock.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Teri Owens was taken into custody after authorities discovered 69-year-old David Spivey with a fatal stab wound to the chest at his residence in the Grand Park neighborhood. The home is located on West 30th Street, close to the intersection with Leonard Circle East.

Emergency services transported Spivey to the hospital, but despite efforts by medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries post-surgery.

The arrest report reveals that Spivey managed to make a 911 call prior to the arrival of law enforcement. On the scene, officers detained Owens, whose appearance matched the suspect description provided by Spivey.

Later that evening, Owens was also arrested on unrelated charges after officers discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vicinity of her purse inside the house. An officer reported that Owens admitted to using crack cocaine earlier that day.

Owens was arrested that night on separate charges, according to the report, after drugs and drug paraphernalia were found near her purse in the home. An officer said Owens admitted to smoking “crack” that day.

The relationship between Owens and Spivey was not immediately disclosed by police, nor was a possible motivation.

On Tuesday, she was officially charged with second-degree murder.

“We’ll continue to seek justice for Spivey’s friends and family,” JSO wrote on social media Tuesday night.
