An artist has been tragically murdered by her own son in a shocking incident at her luxurious $2 million home on an exclusive island. The violent episode also resulted in the deaths of her younger son, who had a disability, and another woman, according to reports.

The artist, 80-year-old Danielle Cuvillier, and her 45-year-old son, Mackenzie P. Williams, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds at their residence on Mercer Island near Seattle at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Investigators have indicated that the situation appears to be a case of homicide followed by suicide, with Cuvillier as the victim and Williams suspected to be the perpetrator.

Later that day, authorities discovered two additional victims at a separate location 14 miles away. The deceased were a man in his mid-30s and a woman in her mid-40s, and police have confirmed that these deaths are connected to the earlier incident.

According to a family attorney, the additional male victim was Nick Williams, Danielle Cuvillier’s mentally disabled son and the younger brother of Mackenzie Williams. The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been disclosed.

“Danielle’s friends and family are overwhelmed with shock, grief, and disbelief over the tragic loss of her and her beloved son Nick,” stated the lawyer in an official release.

‘We need time and space to mourn appropriately and will release a full statement when we have had time to process this devastating sequence of events.” 

Cuvillier was a well-liked artist in her seventies who sold her pieces to a local wine bar on the ritzy island, which sits on Lake Washington and is one of the United States 100 richest zip codes. 

Barrels Wine Bar praised the ‘beauty of her work’ in a Facebook post shared in  November 2022, while a local vendor who spoke with the Daily Mail remembered her as ‘easygoing’. 

Officers were sent to her ritzy Washington state home on SE 46th Street to conduct a welfare check after an attorney representing Cuvillier ‘reported receiving a concerning email that raised fears for the occupants’ safety’ the night before.

As part of the investigation, Mercer Island Police recommended a welfare check on another home belonging to somebody who used to live in Cuvillier’s property. 

Issaquah Police Department found two more bodies at a $1 million residence on SE Evans Lane – a woman in her mid-40s and a man in his mid-30s, later identified as Nick. 

Police said there was no wider threat to the community.  

Local taco vendor Nico Morales said that Danielle had two sons and that Nick ate at his truck every day. 

He told the Daily Mail that Nick was mentally handicapped and could not speak, but would ‘brighten’ his day with ‘signs and hugs’.  

‘All I know is that every day he would come and eat with us at our food truck,’ Morales said. 

I’m devastated about everything because he would come eat with us every day.   

‘It’s kind of weird because they would come around every day, and I was like, “I wonder where Nick is?”.’

‘We also know his mom. She had two kids,’ he added. ‘She was an easygoing lady, she was sweet and kind.’  

A neighbor also said the mother and son were well known in the Mercer Island community and delighted everyone they encountered on their daily walks.

‘They were just such a source of kindness and happiness. Everyone enjoyed talking to them,’ they told the Daily Mail. 

‘She was an amazing mom who did so much for her son.’ 

Police Commander Jeff Mangan told the Daily Mail that three to four firearms were found at Cuvillier’s home on Mercer Island, and each is being ‘treated as evidence’.

Mercer Island, which has a population of 25,000, has one of the lowest homicide rates in Washington State. 

Police Commander Mangan said the last murder case on the island was more than a year ago.   

‘Murder cases are usually several years apart, but at this time of year police do tend to see an uptick in domestic violence cases,’ he told the Daily Mail. 

‘We don’t know the motive of the case at this point.’
