As the countdown to 2026 begins, Orlando is bustling with excitement, gearing up for a night brimming with festivities that promise to draw in lively crowds. The city is setting the stage for unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebrations, with events spread across various vibrant venues.

In the heart of Orlando, ICON Park is hosting its inaugural Beach Ball Drop, a family-friendly event that promises to delight attendees of all ages. As the clock strikes midnight, a cascade of 5,000 inflatable beach balls will descend from above, transforming the park into a playful sea of colors. This unique spectacle offers a novel way to ring in the New Year.

William “Bill” Hackett, the General Manager at ICON Park, expressed enthusiasm for the whimsical chaos the event is expected to create, noting, “There’s going to be fun mayhem. They will be dropping everywhere, and most children will be going home with two.”

The festivities at ICON Park extend beyond the beach ball extravaganza. Several attractions, including The Wheelhouse, Madame Tussauds, and SEA LIFE Aquarium, will keep their doors open late into the night. In anticipation of the large turnout, Hackett assures that additional security measures are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

“We’re expecting several thousand,” Hackett remarked, highlighting the lively atmosphere with DJs energizing the crowd on the lawn and satellite bars sprinkled throughout the park.

Meanwhile, over at Thornton Park, the beloved tradition of the Orange Ball Drop continues atop the Reindeer Room. This year, the venue has undergone a transformation into the Citrus Bowl Lodge, adding a festive twist in anticipation of the upcoming game, ensuring that the spirit of celebration resonates throughout the city.

“The Florida Citrus Sports approached us and since we do a lot of pop ups in our bar, they wanted to do an event to celebrate 80 years of the Citrus Bowl,” said Wendy Connors, Reindeer Room Owner.

Coonors expects hundreds of football fans to pack Washington Street, where sections are gated off and multiple tents have been set up ahead of the midnight countdown.

“It’s like a miniature version of New York City,” she said. “We have the big orange, the countdown at midnight, and everyone gathers underneath it.”

For those looking for live music and nightlife, Wall Street Plaza is already buzzing, with crowds filling the downtown area as bands and DJs perform in the hours leading up to the New Year.

With events spread across the city, Orlando officials encourage attendees to plan ahead, arrive early, and celebrate responsibly as the city welcomes 2026.
