4 confirmed locations in Caracas, Venezuela targeted by US airstrikes

In a calculated operation under the cover of darkness, the United States launched a series of strikes on four confirmed sites within Caracas, Venezuela. This strategic move targeted key locations, including military and naval installations, as well as an airport, according to a detailed analysis by BBC Verify.

Among the sites hit was the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Air Base, commonly referred to as La Carlota. Distantly captured footage reveals two smoke plumes and an explosion erupting near this crucial military airfield in the heart of Caracas.

Another significant target was Port La Guaira, the primary gateway to the Caribbean Sea for Caracas, situated in Miranda state. Nearby video evidence depicts multiple smoke plumes ascending skyward, with at least one visible fire, underscoring the port’s strategic importance.

Further east, in the same state, Higuerote Airport experienced intense activity. Videos taken from different angles show flames and a series of bright flashes on the tarmac, possibly indicating secondary explosions following the initial strike.

Lastly, Fuerte Tiuna, a pivotal military complex in Caracas, was also targeted. The Getty news agency has released images showing fires and vehicle damage at this site. Additionally, NASA satellites recorded heat signatures in the vicinity concurrent with the US strikes, further substantiating the reports of an attack.

President Trump ordered airstrikes on military sites around Caracas with at least seven explosions and low-flying aircraft, beginning around 2 a.m. local time.

Here’s the latest on Nicolás Maduro’s capture:

Amid the heightened tensions between the two countries, Trump also announced that Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were captured by US forces an overnight military operation early Saturday.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Maduro and Flores are en route to NYC aboard the USS Iwo Jima to be officially indicted.
