On Thursday, Sam Kerr shared a glimpse into her New Year celebrations on Instagram, following her recent nuptials to Kristie Mewis at a grand ceremony held the previous day.

The couple exchanged vows at the picturesque Dionysus Villa located in Perth, Kerr’s hometown. The Matildas standout opted for a classic black tuxedo, complemented by a white boutonniere, for the special occasion.

Kristie, her bride, dazzled in an elegant white ensemble. Her attire featured a corset beneath a sheer overlay, adorned with shimmering details cascading down the dress.

In her Instagram post on Thursday, Kerr shared a joyful image of herself reveling in the post-wedding festivities alongside friends.

She also reposted a story featuring her celebrating the incoming year, posing with friends Josh Lofthouse and Tyson Hodge in front of a large ‘2026’ display.

The celebration seemed to stretch into the wee hours, as the Chelsea star was still clad in her wedding tuxedo while enjoying the festivities.

The footballer raised one arm in the air and smiled as she posed for the snap.

The day before the wedding, Mewis and Kerr had invited guests to celebrate with them at a drinks reception in Perth. Mewis’ former US National Team team-mate Stephanie McCaffrey was pictured attending the celebration.

Kerr had stayed at Crown Towers in Perth prior to the wedding on Wednesday and was pictured leaving the hotel with her dad, Roger, before she headed to the ceremony.

On New Year’s Day, the Matildas skipper published another snap on her Instagram story on New Year’s Day, from what appeared to be the balcony of her and Mewis’ room at Crown Towers.

She showed off a stunning view of Matilda Bay and the Swan River, as well as the hotel’s swimming pool.

Kerr and Mewis met back in 2019, with the Chelsea striker having revealed earlier this year that her partner, a former West Ham United and US National side midfielder, had ‘slid into her DMs’.

The couple announced their relationship in 2021, after the Tokyo Olympics and would get engaged in 2023.

They also became parents earlier this year, with Mewis giving birth to their son, Jagger, in May.

Kerr carried Jagger down the aisle on New Year’s Eve, a moment that Mewis had predicted would make her cry.

‘That is going to be gut-wrenching for me, I will sob when that happens,’ Kristie had told the Mewis Squared podcast in the days preceding the wedding.

Kerr and Jagger had worn matching outfits, and she was also seen handing her baby boy over to her dad so that she could recite her wedding vows.

Heartwarming photos emerged of Kerr during the big day stepping away from her guests to feed her baby boy.

The tuxedo-clad footballer was pictured carrying a baby bottle filled with milk for her seven-month-old son.

She had recently spoken on how motherhood had changed her life, stating that it hadn’t altered her view on football.

‘It’s actually interesting – I don’t think it’s changed my perspective on football,’ Kerr said when asked, during an interview with CBA Newsroom, what it’s been like becoming a new parent.

‘I still love the game and I’m all in when I’m there. But it has changed my home life. When I come home, I’m not watching clips of myself anymore. I have better separation now, and it’s been healthy.’

She held Mewis’ hand and smiled as the happy couple said ‘I do’. Mewis was also seen touching Kerr’s arm as they locked eyes in what was a sign of affection.

Kerr’s Matildas team-mates Alanna Kennedy, Steph Catley, Emily Van Egmond, and Caitlin Foord, all arrived at Crown Towers before the wedding and joined other guests as they were transported by coach to the venue.

The Matildas stars gathered together after the ceremony was completed and toasted their captain.

Kerr and Mewis had thrown a huge party for their guests, who were all wearing black outfits.

Invitees flanked Mewis and Kerr as they said their wedding vows in the front courtyard of the Dionysus Villa.

The happy couple shared a kiss, with guests around them cheering and congratulating them after they had tied the knot.

The party began soon after and Daily Mail can reveal what was on the drinks menu.

For those looking for an alcoholic tipple, spicy margaritas, Moscow mules and Aperol spritz were all available.

Fizzy options included a Vasse Felix Idee Fixe, San Martino Prosecco and Pol Roger Brut.

For wine, Forest Hill Riesling, Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc, Singlefile Pinot Noir, and Forest Hill Highbury Cabernet Sauvignon were also on the menu.

Guests could also sample one of the range of beers on offer which included Corona, Stone and Wood Pacific Ale, Wolf of the Willows West Coast IPA and Gage Roads Side Track.

The Dionysus Villa was sold in 2021 for over $3million. It is a five-bedroom stately home in the Swan Valley that has a saltwater swimming pool, its own library, theatre room and a state-of-the-art kitchen, complete with industrial units.
