A teenager from Indiana, who had been on the run following a deadly incident late last year, has now surrendered to authorities.

Nineteen-year-old Antwan Hayes is currently in police custody after allegedly shooting and killing 23-year-old Kenneth Anthony Murff Jr. on November 11, 2025, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Hayes turned himself in on January 1, and he faces charges of murder and burglary with a deadly weapon.

Court documents, which were reviewed by local Fox affiliate WXIN, reveal that Hayes had reportedly threatened to kill the next partner of his ex-girlfriend. Although Murff was not romantically involved with Hayes’ ex-girlfriend, his brother was.

According to police, Hayes had made threats against anyone his former girlfriend might date after their breakup, which occurred months before the November shooting. The woman, who remains unnamed, told law enforcement that she attempted to conceal her new relationship from Hayes and took steps to avoid being found by him.

Despite her efforts, authorities say Hayes located her in the early hours of November 11, 2025. The woman had arrived at her new boyfriend’s residence in Indianapolis around 4 a.m. Just ten minutes later, Hayes allegedly appeared at the same location after trying to reach her several times.

Surveillance footage included in court records shows Hayes approaching the home armed with a pistol featuring an extended magazine. Witnesses in the neighborhood reported hearing Hayes shouting at the woman to open the door, allegedly threatening, “Open the front door before I kill somebody.”

When no one let Hayes in, he went to the side of the home and allegedly fired multiple shots into a side window, hitting Murff. Murff was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

Police said Hayes and his ex-girlfriend fled the property in her car. She later said she left with Hayes because she was “confused and afraid.” She told police that she never expected Hayes to follow through on his alleged threats.

Hayes was charged with murder and burglary with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the Marion County Jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for March 3.
