It’s always a pleasant surprise when a product upgrade brings with it a significant leap in battery performance. This is precisely the case with the Moto Tag 2. Motorola’s second-generation tracker tag boasts an impressive lifespan of over 500 days before requiring a battery change. That’s nearly a year and a half of not worrying about recharging this particular gadget.

The Moto Tag 2 harnesses the power of Google’s Find Hub network, making it easier than ever to locate your belongings. It also features UWB (Ultra-Wideband) sensing for pinpoint location tracking. This capability was not available at the launch of the original Moto Tag but was later introduced. While the first-generation Moto Tag, similar to Apple’s AirTag, offered up to a year on a single battery, the battery efficiency improvements in the Tag 2 are noteworthy.

This updated tracker is not only more efficient but also sturdier, with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, compared to the IP67 rating of its predecessor. It retains the handy button feature that can make your phone emit a beep if it’s the missing item. Additionally, this button serves as a remote camera shutter, a feature that adds a layer of functionality to this versatile gadget.

As for availability, Motorola has yet to disclose an exact launch date or pricing for the Tag 2. However, they have confirmed that it will be available in North America, with further details expected “in the coming months.”
