Directors Guild of America announces film and television nominees for 78th DGA Awards

LOS ANGELES — The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has revealed its list of nominees for the 78th Annual DGA Awards, showcasing a competitive lineup with top contenders including “The Bear,” “Andor,” and “Dying for Sex.” The announcement highlights the high standards in both television and film this year.

In a statement, DGA President Christopher Nolan expressed his pride, saying, “On behalf of the entire Guild community, I extend my congratulations to these directors on this achievement, and we look forward to celebrating your work at the DGA Awards.”

Dramatic Series
Nominees in this category include Janus Metz for “Andor” with the episode “Who Are You?,” Liza Johnson for “The Diplomat” with “Amagansett,” Amanda Marsalis for “The Pitt” with “6:00 P.M.,” John Wells also for “The Pitt” with “7:00 A.M.,” and Ben Stiller for “Severance” with “Cold Harbor.”

Comedy Series
In the comedy category, Janicza Bravo is nominated for “The Bear” with the episode “Worms,” Christopher Storer also for “The Bear” with “Bears,” Lucia Aniello for “Hacks” with “A Slippery Slope,” Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for “The Studio” with “The Oner,” and Mike White for “The White Lotus” with “Denials.”

Limited & Anthology Series
The limited and anthology series category features Shannon Murphy for “Dying for Sex” with “It’s Not That Serious,” Jason Bateman for “Black Rabbit” with “The Black Rabbits,” Antonio Campos for “The Beast in Me” with “Sick Puppy,” Lesli Linka Glatter for “Sero Day” with “Episode 6,” and Ally Pankiw for “Black Mirror” with “Common People.”

Variety
In the variety category, nominees include Andy Fisher for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” with the episode featuring Stephen Colbert, Kumail Nanjiani, and Reneé Rapp; Yvonne De Mare for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” with Julia Roberts and Sam Smith; Beth McCarthy-Miller for “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert”; Liza Patrick for “SNL50: The Anniversary Special”; and Paul Pennolino for “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” with the episode “Public Media.”
