Nick Reiner believes he’s victim of a ‘conspiracy,’ new documentary claims

Nick Reiner, facing accusations in the gruesome murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, reportedly perceives himself as the target of a “conspiracy,” as detailed in a recent documentary.

TMZ’s documentary, “The Reiner Murders: What Really Happened,” is set to premiere Friday night on Fox and will be available for streaming Saturday on Hulu. According to sources featured in the program, the 32-year-old Reiner is aware of his actions but is baffled by his incarceration and the potential life sentence or death penalty he faces.

Individuals with intimate knowledge of the situation assert that Reiner is suffering from delusional beliefs, convinced that those responsible for his imprisonment are involved in a “conspiracy” against him.

The outlet previously reported that Nick was diagnosed in recent years with schizoaffective disorder but was “stable” prior to doctors changing his medication in the weeks before the fatal stabbings.

Further insights suggest that a change in medication may have exacerbated his condition, rendering him agitated, erratic, and perilously unstable. It is claimed that Reiner experienced a “complete break from reality” leading up to the alleged murders.

Nick, who has struggled with substance abuse and mental health challenges for years, was apprehended on December 14, shortly after his parents were discovered deceased in their Los Angeles residence. He was subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder, with an additional allegation of using a knife as a deadly weapon in the killings.

It is anticipated that Reiner will enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Central to his defense will likely be the argument that his healthcare providers failed to initiate a psychiatric hold during the medication transition, despite his alarming behavior.

Nick’s attorney Alan Jackson withdrew himself from the case on Wednesday in the minutes before his client was scheduled to be arraigned, but not without telling the press that “Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.” He will now be represented by public defender Kimberly Greene, according to TMZ.
