CASSELBERRY, Fla. – The tragic shooting of a Minneapolis driver by ICE officers has ignited widespread protests across the nation, with Central Florida joining the outcry.

In Casselberry, demonstrators gathered along Triplet Lake Drive and U.S. 17-92, demanding justice for Renee Good, who was fatally shot. They insist that the ICE officers involved must face consequences.

Saturday morning saw similar protests along I-4 in Orlando, as well as in Minneapolis, among numerous other locations nationwide, all in reaction to the fatal incident.

“I hope this signifies that it’s not a battle among ourselves; it’s us united against them,” expressed Makayla Moseby, a resident of Seminole County.

The call for accountability is strong, with many protesters urging that the ICE officer responsible for Good’s death should be held to account.

“He needs to be arrested and tried for his crimes. He had no reason to think he was in any harm,” said Darryl Malcolm, also a Seminole County resident.

Good was shot in the head Wednesday morning in south Minneapolis during a federal ICE operation.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the officers acted in self-defense.

“It puts our officers’ lives in jeopardy, but they are there enforcing our laws and protecting public safety when it comes to federal law,” Noem said.

Noem claimed Good attempted to run officers over with her vehicle and has called the incident an act of “domestic terrorism.”

Other top officials also weighed in, including Vice President JD Vance, who said, “She was trying to run this guy over with her car. He shot — he defended himself.”

Demonstrators said they don’t believe that account and argue the narrative is being distorted, saying leaders are “purposely making it difficult to keep America from being what it is.”

They are also calling for the Trump administration to roll back its crackdown on immigration.

More demonstrations are expected in Central Florida Sunday, including in Orlando and Cocoa Beach, as protesters continue to react to the shooting in Minneapolis.
