Ilhan Omar makes U-turn on video of anti-ICE protester being shot dead

Ilhan Omar has revised her earlier remarks regarding the ICE-related shooting incident in her home state, acknowledging that the federal agent was positioned in front of a “moving car” when he discharged his weapon fatally.

The Congresswoman from Minnesota had initially claimed that “no one is run over,” implying that Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three who was shot, did not threaten ICE officer Jonathan ‘Jon’ Ross during last Wednesday’s altercation.

However, during an interview on CNN’s Face The Nation on Sunday, Omar conceded that Good’s SUV was indeed in motion during the Minneapolis incident last week.

Referring to video footage of the event, she described, “Renee Nicole Good, as she expresses, isn’t angry; she’s seated in her vehicle, calmly gesturing for other cars to pass by.”

“This agent exits his vehicle, immediately runs toward her, attempting to open her door, which frightens her, leading her to steer away,” she continued.

“Then, you observe another officer, clearly aware that the car is moving, positioning himself in front of the vehicle,” Omar added.

‘If they are saying that he has 10 years on service and is trained, he should know that you shouldn’t be trying to get in front of a moving car.’

Speaking with CNN’s Jake Tapper four days before, the Democrat politician said that ‘no-one is run over’ as she pushed back against Trump’s claim that the ICE agent shot Good in ‘self defense’.

‘That’s an incredibly delusional statement. We’ve all seen the video… you can see no ICE agent falls to the ground, no-one is run over,’ Omar said.

‘So to re-write something that is still so visibly available everywhere just shows how disturbingly delusional our president has become.

‘But the people have their own eyes, they can make their own judgment, and certainly when this investigation is over we are going to know really what has taken place, and I hope that leads to accountability’.

The Daily Mail has contacted Omar’s office for comment on the two statements. She shifted her version of events after Ross’s own bodycam was released on Friday and showed his camera jerking as Good drove off in her final moments.

Good’s final moments have been immortalized through bloodcurdling videos shot from several angles, as the country reels over who is to blame for her death.

One clip shows the interaction the 37-year-old had with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Ross before he fatally shot her in the head.

The Minneapolis resident and poet can be heard saying from inside her car: ‘That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad.’

Her wife, Rebecca Good, 40, could be heard urging Ross, who wore a face covering, to ‘show his face’ as she asked him: ‘You want to come at us?’

As the tension mounted, Good was told to get out of the car, but ignored orders. She began revving the engine and drove off during what the Trump Administration said was part of a protest against the planned detention of Somali migrants in the area.

Ross’s camera then jerked. It is unclear if he was struck by the car or jumped to get out of its way.

The ICE agent fired three shots, including one through the front windshield of the Honda, that struck and killed Good.

Federal officials have claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense, while the city’s mayor had condemned it as ‘reckless’ and unnecessary.

The Minnesota city was rocked by the murder of George Floyd by a police officer just over five years ago, and residents are now reeling from another controversial act of violence by a law enforcement official.

Meanwhile, Trump has condemned Good, insisting that she plowed over Ross and he is lucky to be alive.

‘She behaved horribly,’ Trump told the New York Times. ‘And then she ran him over. She didn’t try to run him over. She ran him over.’
