The tragic incident unfolded on December 23 at approximately 1:22 a.m. on a CTA Pink Line train located in the 100 block of North Wells Street, authorities stated.

Law enforcement has identified the suspect as 34-year-old Pedro Villarreal, a resident of Chicago, who faces accusations of shooting two men, resulting in the death of one individual.

The altercation involved Villarreal and two men, aged 23 and 44, who were reportedly in a dispute with him. The confrontation escalated when Villarreal brandished a knife, as detailed by the police.

During the heated exchange, one of the victims reportedly drew a firearm. Villarreal managed to seize control of the weapon and discharged it, striking both men, police confirmed.

Tragically, the 44-year-old man, later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Raymond S. Harrison Jr., sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The 23-year-old man was shot in the wrist; he was expected to be OK.
