The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement on the social media platform X that US federal law enforcement officers stopped a person from Venezuela who was in the country illegally.

Good’s family, meanwhile, has hired a law firm, Romanucci & Blandin, that represented George Floyd‘s family in a $US27 million ($40.4 million) settlement with Minneapolis.

In May 2020, Floyd, an African American man, tragically lost his life when a white police officer held him down by the neck on the street.

The company stated that Good was complying with instructions to relocate her vehicle at the time she was shot. They announced plans to undertake their own investigation and promised to release their findings to the public.

“Her family wishes for her to be seen not as a tool for political agendas,” the company explained, “but as a symbol of peace for everyone.”

Students march against ICE

Braving the cold with banners that read “Love Melts ICE” and “DE-ICE MN,” hundreds of students from St. Paul schools walked out in protest, heading to the state Capitol for a demonstration and rally.

Meanwhile, the University of Minnesota notified its more than 50,000 students about potential online class options as the new term approaches next week.

President Rebecca Cunningham remarked on the situation, saying, “Violence and demonstrations have reached our vicinity.”

The campus sits next to the main Somali neighbourhood in Minneapolis.
