In a disturbing incident early Thursday morning, a conductor working for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) was assaulted by a passenger in Queens, as sources revealed to the Daily News. The altercation stemmed from the passenger’s dissatisfaction with the train route.

The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. on an A train. The 37-year-old conductor was conducting routine duties, looking out the window, when the irate passenger approached. The individual reportedly expressed frustration, saying, “Thanks for taking me to the wrong stop,” before launching an attack, according to a transit source.

The passenger struck the conductor in the face with enough force to cause the conductor’s head to collide with the wall of the control cabin.

Emergency medical personnel responded quickly, transporting the conductor to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and reported to be in stable condition.

As of now, authorities have not apprehended the assailant.

John Chiarello, president of the Transport Workers Union Local 100, which represents subway employees, condemned the incident, describing the assault as “senseless and vicious.” The union continues to advocate for the safety and well-being of its members.

“Unfortunately these assaults are on the rise again,” he said. “They say overall crime numbers are down, but our members are getting attacked more often.”
