In a startling revelation, a recently unsealed indictment has implicated several former college basketball players, including members of the DePaul Blue Demons, in a point-shaving scandal. This scheme allegedly aimed to manipulate game outcomes within both the NCAA and the Chinese Basketball Association.

Among those named in the indictment are Jalen Terry and Da’Sean Nelson, both of whom concluded their college basketball careers during the 2023-24 season. Another player, Micawber Etienne, is also cited, although his charges are reportedly filed elsewhere.

The indictment details an incident from February 24, 2024, during an NCAA men’s basketball matchup between Georgetown and DePaul at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena. It alleges that players Jalen Terry, Da’Sean Nelson, and Micawber Etienne deliberately underperformed in the first half, contributing to Georgetown’s significant lead of 41 to 28. This performance reportedly aligned with a pre-agreed point spread of approximately 2.5 points, enabling the fixers to profit from betting on the game.
