The transfer window is in full swing, and today’s updates from Daily Mail Sport’s Simon Jones reveal intriguing pursuits among Premier League clubs. Notably, three top-tier teams are eyeing a Wolves standout, while Chelsea zeroes in on a French defender. Crystal Palace and Fulham are also on the hunt for strikers to enhance their squads.

Chelsea eye progress in Jacquet move

Chelsea is intensifying its efforts to secure Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, aiming to bolster their defense by January. The 20-year-old defender has been a long-time target for the Blues, alongside the likes of Jacobo Ramon from Como. However, with Bayern Munich and Arsenal also interested, Chelsea is expediting their strategies.

This week, Chelsea engaged in discussions with Rennes, aiming to outpace their competitors in the race for Jacquet’s signature. These talks coincide with Chelsea’s strategic planning, as reported by Daily Mail Sport on Thursday. The club has also made room on their Champions League squad list, reflecting their commitment to strengthening their roster.

Meanwhile, Leeds United has expressed interest in Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, signaling their intent to bolster their attacking options. As the transfer window progresses, these developments promise to keep fans and analysts alike on the edge of their seats.

Daily Mail Sport reported on Thursday how Chelsea had brought forward plans to help Liam Rosenior and they have also left a spot in their Champions League squad list.

Leeds join chase for £40m-rated Wolves star

Leeds United have made an enquiry for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Crystal Palace, who anticipate an offer from Juventus for Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Nottingham Forest are among the other clubs to have asked about £40million-rated Larsen.

Leeds are at their limit with PSR so may have to sell to facilitate any bid for Larsen.

Leeds winger Jack Harrison arrived in Florence yesterday to seal his loan move to Fiorentina. There is an option to make it permanent for £6m.

Celtic are also interested in Leeds striker Joel Piroe but he is looking to stay.

Newcastle look at Brugge left back Seys

Newcastle United have checked on Club Brugge full back Joaquin Seys.

The 20-year-old made his breakthrough last season and caught the eye with his performance against Aston Villa in Brugge’s Champions League win.

He has gone on to cement his place in the side and has won two caps for Belgium.

Newcastle want Toulouse defender Dayann Methalie but he currently has a short-term knee injury, as reported by Daily Mail Sport’s Craig Hope.

Left back Seys, who can also fill in on the other side, is on their radar, potentially as a back-up option, but Newcastle need defensive reinforcements this month with a lengthening injury list and are looking to the future with the likelihood Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento leave in the summer.

Roma have also enquired about Seys in recent weeks.

Brighton’s Coppola wanted by Spanish pair

Brighton centre back Diego Coppola is attracting interest from Spanish sides Valencia and Girona.

The 22-year-old Italy international started for Brighton in their FA Cup win over Manchester United and has made nine appearances this season after joining from Cerina last summer for £9.4million.

Fiorentina and AC Milan have also been monitoring Coppola who is keen for more playing time in his bid to make Italy’s World Cup squad.

Abraham makes transfer preference clear

Tammy Abraham is determined to join Aston Villa this month despite late interest from Nottingham Forest.

The former Chelsea forward is a target for both clubs if allowed to leave Turkish side Besiktas, where he is on loan from Roma.

Villa retain interest in Newcastle’s Will Osula also.

Cherries agree deal for Ferencvaros midfielder

Bournemouth have agreed a £10.4m deal with Ferencvaros for midfielder Alex Toth. The deal is worth £8.7m plus add-ons.

The 20-year-old is due to arrive over the weekend for his medical and has agreed a five-and-a-half-year deal.

The Cherries have also submitted an offer for 19-year-old Vasco da Gama winger Rayan worth around £27.75m.

Andoni Iraola’s team are closing on a deal to sign Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas.

The Greece international is in discussions to join on a loan. The 24-year-old, who has also attracted enquiries from West Ham and Wolves, has made just the one appearance for Lazio this season in the Coppa Italia.

Watford want Italian star Bove, who survived cardiac arrest

Watford are hopeful of reaching agreement with Italian midfielder Edoardo Bove but are wary of late competition.

The former Roma midfielder collapsed on the pitch following a cardiac arrest 14 months ago while on loan at Fiorentina and has not been allowed to resume his career in Italy as he had a cardiac defibrillator fitted.

However, England’s guidelines allow for players like Bove, and previously Christian Eriksen, who are fitted with such a device, to play.

As Daily Mail Sport reported at the start of the window, Watford have been talking to Bove about a return to action for a number of months. The former Italy U21 international was a big favourite with former Roma boss Jose Mourinho.

Watford assistant sport director Valon Behrami, who played in Italy himself, said: ‘We became a serious option for him but with a player like this it always takes time. Now we have to wait and see what we can do. It could be a dream come true.

‘There are many clubs that are on him now, we are one of them, and hopefully we can be the one he chooses.’

Irving set for Hammers exit while Paqueta future remains in doubt

West Ham midfielder Andrew Irving is in talks to join Sparta Prague in a surprise move. Sparta owner Daniel Kretinsky also holds a stake in West Ham.

Meanwhile, Flamengo target Lucas Paqueta is increasingly doubtful to face Tottenham today.

Palace continue talks for teenage forward

Crystal Palace have had an opening offer for Angers forward Sidiki Cherif rejected but talks are continuing for the 19-year-old.

Stoke City have made a move to sign Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan after he snubbed a move to Swansea.

Marc Guehi is scheduled to have a medical in Manchester on Sunday.

Manchester City and Crystal Palace agreed a fee of £20m on Friday, with add-ons and a sell-on clause.

Fulham maintain interest in injured PSV forward

Fulham are maintaining dialogue over PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi despite him undergoing surgery on a broken arm and being ruled out for seven weeks.

Fulham made an offer around £22million which was rejected, and PSV insist it would take more than £30m to prise away the striker. PSV hold interest in Wolves forward Hwang-hee Chan.

McClean set to leave Wrexham for Derry City

Wrexham forward James McClean is in talks over a return to hometown club Derry City.

The former West Brom and Stoke winger has played 19 times Wrexham this season, providing four assists.

McClean started his career at Derry City and the 36-year-old has been at Wrexham for nearly three years helping them reach the Championship.

The Welsh club are ready to splash out again this window as they look for a striker.

Bees star Onyeka on wanted list for Blades

Sheffield United have joined the clubs asking for Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka who is available this window. Valencia, Coventry City and Birmingham have also enquired.

Brentford would consider a loan with option to buy on promotion for the Championship sides or a permanent sale.

The 28-year-old remains at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and will be involved in a third-place play-off match over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract, with a club option to extend for a further year.

The 27-year-old became the first Brentford player to reach 150 Premier League appearances.

Norwich star pushes for exit after demotion to Under-21s

Norwich City striker Josh Sargent is pushing to join Toronto after being forced to train with the Canaries’ under-21s.

He is intent on a move back to the MLS for his family.

Heskey leaves Man City on loan

Manchester City forward Jaden Heskey has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan with QPR goalkeeper Murphy Cooper.
