GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have detained 32-year-old Shakira Campbell following allegations that she threatened the life of a police officer and his family. The incident reportedly took place after she was asked to leave the Midtown Publix store in Gainesville.

The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) recounts that Campbell entered the Publix located at 203 NW 13th Street around 9:15 a.m. and fell asleep at a table. Despite requests to vacate the premises at both 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., she refused to leave. After the second refusal, a Publix employee called 911, prompting Campbell to exit the store while the call was being made.

Officers later located Campbell across NW 13th Street, lying behind a pillar with her belongings scattered around her. When approached by police, she declined any medical assistance and refused to provide her name. She then allegedly began shouting threats, stating she would kill an officer, his wife, and children, even going so far as to threaten to hang and decapitate the officer.

Campbell, identified as homeless in the arrest documentation, faces charges of making threats against a law enforcement officer and trespassing after a warning. Although she lacks any known criminal convictions, her record indicates a criminal history spanning nine states over the past decade. Judge Jonathan Ramsey has set her bail at $12,000.
