Frey: There's 'Moral Imperative' to Not Cooperate with Feds on Immigration Enforcement Work

In a recent interview on NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey made it clear that the city will not collaborate with ICE or any federal agencies involved in immigration enforcement. He emphasized this decision stems not only from a “moral imperative” but also from a practical standpoint, as he prefers that the police focus on maintaining public safety.

Frey explained, “Here in Minneapolis, we refuse to partner with ICE or any federal body concerning immigration enforcement. The reasoning is twofold: beyond the moral duty, it’s crucial for our law enforcement to concentrate on ensuring safety.”

Elaborating further, he stated, “Our police need to prioritize apprehending violent criminals, preventing carjackings, and responding to 911 emergencies. What I don’t want is for our officers to waste time pursuing a father who just dropped off his children at daycare and is heading to a long work shift, simply because he’s from Ecuador.”
