Exciting news for thriller enthusiasts: the highly anticipated psychological drama, The Housemaid, featuring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Skelnar, is set to debut on digital platforms soon.
Adapted from Freida McFadden’s acclaimed novel, The Housemaid will hit cinemas across the nation on December 19, 2025. The gripping storyline follows Millie (played by Sweeney) as she steps into a job with the affluent Winchesters (portrayed by Seyfried and Skelnar), only to be ensnared in a steamy, enigmatic play of secrets and dominance, capped with unexpected twists that keep viewers on edge.
Helmed by director Paul Feig, the film also boasts performances by Elizabeth Perkins and Michele Morrone.
Reports from When to Stream suggest that The Housemaid is slated for a digital release on premium video on demand (PVOD) on February 3. While this streaming service is renowned for its accurate release information, it cautions that Lionsgate, the film’s distributor, has not yet officially confirmed this date, leaving room for possible changes.
Once available on PVOD, audiences can purchase or rent The Housemaid through various platforms including Apple TV, Fandango at Home, YouTube Movies & TV, and Prime Video, which is currently offering the film for pre-order at $24.99.

The RT Critics’ Consensus reads, “A sly throwback to the lurid thrillers that used to dominate multiplexes, The Housemaid cleans up nicely thanks to its wicked sense of fun and a delightfully unnerving performance from Amanda Seyfried.”
In addition, The Housemaid earned a 92% “fresh” score on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 5,000-plus verified user ratings.
