FULLERTON, Calif. — In a startling incident, authorities have apprehended a mother after her 19-month-old child fell from her moving SUV in Fullerton, California, as reported by the police.
A dramatic clip captures the SUV taking a left turn at an intersection when suddenly, the front passenger door swings open, leading to the toddler tumbling onto the pavement.
According to Fullerton police, the SUV came to an abrupt halt, nearly resulting in a collision with the vehicle trailing behind.
The footage then shows a woman exiting the driver’s side of the SUV, retrieving the child from the ground, and promptly driving away once back in the vehicle.
A witness stepped forward on January 24, reporting they had observed the incident on January 20. They provided critical details that helped identify the vehicle involved.
Following an investigation, police found the SUV, the child, and the woman at a residence. Jacqueline Marie Hernandez, aged 35, was arrested on allegations of child abuse.
Police said the 19-month-old child sustained injuries consistent with the fall and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The toddler is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident remains under investigation.
