Concerns over the accuracy of melatonin product labeling have been heightened following a discovery that one product contained a staggering 400 percent more melatonin than advertised. This discrepancy poses a risk of accidental overdose for unsuspecting consumers.

In a surprising twist, another product was found to contain no detectable melatonin at all, raising questions about the reliability of these supplements. Furthermore, at least four other products were identified to have significantly less melatonin than indicated on their labels.

In response, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has taken action. They have informed the Australian Border Force (ABF) to intercept and destroy any counterfeit melatonin products found at the border. Consumers who currently possess any unregistered melatonin products are strongly advised by the TGA to cease their use immediately, prioritizing their health and safety over uncertain benefits.
