Gainesville Woman Caught Shoplifting Five Times in Nine Days at Local Store

Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 35-year-old woman, Tina Marie Rodstrom, was taken into custody last night, facing charges of organized retail theft. She is accused of shoplifting from the same Gainesville store on five occasions within a span of nine days.

On January 31, an officer from the Gainesville Police Department was dispatched to the CVS located at 1621 SW 13th Street. An employee at the store provided surveillance footage that allegedly captured Rodstrom entering the store on several different days. The footage reportedly shows her heading to the drink coolers, grabbing multiple beverages, and exiting the store without paying.

The investigation revealed that over the course of five incidents on January 23, 26, 28, 29, and 31, Rodstrom allegedly made off with a total of 27 items, collectively valued at $86.93.

Store personnel were able to supply the officer with Rodstrom’s name, her contact details, and her workplace. The officer confirmed her identity by matching her driver’s license photo to the individual seen in the CVS surveillance images. Rodstrom was subsequently arrested at a nearby establishment.

After being read her rights, Rodstrom reportedly confessed to the thefts.

Rodstrom has been charged with petit theft with two or more prior theft convictions and organized retail theft (five times in 30 days or more than 10 items), both felonies. She has five felony convictions (non-violent) and seven misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); she has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2021. Judge Gloria Walker set bail at $1,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
