Flood warnings across multiple states amid new cyclone fears
A tropical cyclone could potentially form off the coast of Western Australia later this week.

A low-pressure system has settled over the Northern Territory, unleashing significant rainfall across the region.

Weatherzone reported 154.2mm in the 24 hours to 9am on Monday at Bradshaw, west of Katherine, as well as 126.6mm at Delamere and 122.6mm at Maingrida Airport.

This weather pattern is expected to persist, bringing continuous heavy rain and potential flooding throughout the week in both the northern parts of the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

“Moisture from the low-pressure system will also intensify rain and thunderstorm activities across vast areas of northern and eastern Australia throughout the week,” meteorologist Domensino noted.

The weather bureau has issued several alerts, including flood warnings and a severe weather warning for intense rainfall in the Northern Territory.

A flood watch is in effect for the Tanami Desert, highlighting the widespread impact of the weather system.

Furthermore, early flood warnings are in place for the Kimberley region in Western Australia, while Queensland is also under multiple flood warnings across various areas.
