Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Christie Johnson has reported that a significant fire erupted last night in the Mount Lofty Ranges, specifically on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
“We are observing areas with high fire danger that are nearing the threshold for extreme fire danger,” Johnson stated, highlighting regions such as the Murraylands and the upper south-east.
In Victoria, conditions of extreme fire danger are forecasted, particularly affecting central areas like the Central District, as well as the North Central District.
“Other districts, including the Wimmera and the West and South Gippsland District, are also approaching the extreme fire danger threshold,” Johnson added.
She further warned that recent models indicate worsening conditions, with expectations of high fire danger spreading across the state. The east coast and the Midlands district are likely to experience extreme fire danger by tomorrow.
