Bahama Breeze to shutter all restaurants after 30 years

Bahama Breeze, the beloved Caribbean-inspired dining chain, is set to close several of its locations, including the one in Jacksonville, marking the end of an era for many fans of its tropical ambiance and flavors. Some of these locations will be transformed into other restaurants under the Darden Restaurants umbrella.

Based in Orlando, Florida, Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Bahama Breeze, announced on Tuesday that it plans to shutter 14 of its Bahama Breeze outlets permanently across nine states. The company also plans to rebrand the remaining 14 locations under different Darden brands, signaling a significant shift in its strategic focus.

In the next 12 to 18 months, Darden intends to complete the conversion of these locations, although it has yet to specify which of its other brands—such as Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, or Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen—will take the place of the outgoing Bahama Breeze establishments.

The decision marks a pivotal moment for Darden Restaurants as it recalibrates its portfolio to better align with evolving consumer preferences. A detailed list of the specific closures and future conversions is available for those interested in the changes.
