Images of the suspect involved in the 2024 incident where baby Luka was burned with hot coffee were posted on a construction site wall along Chapel Street in Prahan.
Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, Nicholas Reece, expressed strong disapproval, labeling the posters featuring Akram as “utterly repulsive.”
In a statement, Reece noted, “Drew’s posters exemplify how modern street art can serve as a powerful political tool and a form of social activism.”
He continued, “It is truly disturbing to see Drew’s work misused to spread images that promote hatred and discord.”
Reece condemned the use of the Bondi shooter’s image, calling it “sick,” while acknowledging that families and the community continue to mourn.
Reece also mentioned that his team has been diligently working to remove the offensive posters.
Drew also condemned the person behind the posters.
“Whoever made these posters doesn’t believe in Australia,” he said.
“They are not patriotic. They claim to be patriots, but we’re the patriots. We’re the ones who love Australia.”
